I need a good semi-fancy, but not too shmancy plae for my family (16 people including 2 six year olds) to have a nice dinner and celebrate my graduation. It would be reallynice if I could find somewhere on the water, but I dont want to pay buttloads of money. Any ideas?

If you're willing to travel a little - Skyline in Marina Bay Quincy is nice, w/out being stuffy or too expensive. You can't get any closer to the water for their price and their food is great - varies from seafood to pasta to beef. It's only 10 minutes from Boston w/out traffic.

Another option is Joe's American Bar and Grille on Atlantic Ave in Boston. There food is okay, but the view is fantastic.

Boston has a rich history and a varied neighbourhood; it has a legacy of arts, culture, and knowledge; Boston has something for anyone therefore discover what Boston can offer you with hotelbye . The three-mile Freedom Trail leads you past - and into - 16 of the city's primary traditional monuments and sites. It's simple to follow, by the type of red bricks in the sidewalk and by footprints at street crossings. The walk can take you to Old Granary Burying Ground wherever Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock are hidden; will take you to King's Chapel Burying Ground, the Boston's oldest cemetery; Old South Meeting House where the ringing speeches of patriots spawned the Boston Tea Party and the Old State House, Boston's oldest community creating and the website of the Boston Massacre.

Legal Seafoods is really nice and they're located all over the state. Two of them are located both at Copley and the connecting Prudential center so you won't have much difficulty but they aren't by the water. Other potential alternatives would be, if you like Italian food: Vinny Testa's off Beacon avenue in Brookline and Maggiano's in Boston's theater district, which is really nice.

There's a variety of places in the North End and some of them are exceptionally classy and the service is fantastic but only if you like Italian. Another really great place I can recommend, which is also located in Brookline and located off Beacon avenue is the Golden Temple, which is a semi-fancy Chinese restaurant and the prices are average, not too expensive and not too cheap but just in the middle.

If you're willing to travel, try the Cheesecake Factory which might be appropriate. There's one located at Cambridge's Cambridgeside Galleria and at the Atrium Mall in Chestnut Hill. They're not really semi-fancy if you're expecting to have eight forks for your meal, but they're a pretty classy restaurant, there's tons of variety on the menu for everyone, including children and the desserts are good. The prices are almost similar to Golden Temple.

It's not fancy but the "No Name" restaurant on the waterfront is a great place for a large crowd with kids.

You better call for reservations NOW.

If they don't have any, try Citysearch.

If someone in your family has an American Express card, the concierge can make other suggestions in your price range.

Check the Barking Crab. It is a lobster shack type of place near the waterfront. It IS more expensive than similar places out of town but it has the ambiance and style and location you are looking for.

Ruth Boston. You will absolutely love it. I went in a group too. It's a bit expensive but believe me, it's well worth it. It's in the old city hall (the location is awesome). If you go, I will love to hear a feedback from you. Here's the link.

They have large private rooms also for a closed dinner.

Anthony's Pier 5, which is on the Waterfront, as long as the place remains open after the death of Anthony a few years ago.
