I live in Ft. Wayne and my boyfriend lives in Boston. We want to plan a trip where we meet in the middle.

If you are just looking to spend time together the halfway mark would be in middle PA. If you are looking for fun I would go to Phillie and the IN would have to do more of the driving but through PA and or Ohio which is all open road compared to the Boston driver will have quite a bit of traffic during his route

Sarasota Springs long island is only approximately lifeless midsection on the diagonal. If you are looking for a large city as a pit stop, try Buffalo, NY. Or, you might try Jamestown or Rochester.
