I lived in Boston for five years, went to school there and worked for a bit. I loved it. I have lived in quite a few cities around the world and I think Boston was one the best. It has a really good culture mix, great restaurants and really friendly people. There are tons of things to do; theatre, movies, museums, ice skating in Boston Common during the winter, Cape Cod in the summer. Winters are freezing but the summer makes up for it. Make sure you stay in Boston in summer and have lunch on Newbury Street (a great people watching street!). Boston has great variety of restaurants from Cuban, Korean, Tibetan, Ethiopan, French...if you are a foodie, you will love it! Try www.boston.com, they good reviews on restaurants.

I lived in a few of the Boston burbs. Somerville, Malden, Medford, and Revere. Somerville was a bit on the dingy side, Revere was ok, but too close to the beaches, and thus the traffic was horrid. Medford and Malden were both nice. My sister has a house in Arlington, which is another nice burb. The beauty of living in the burbs, is that you have quick access to anywhere in Boston via the T. There's always something to do, even if you just like to hang out and do nothing. As to the climate, it gets cold as hell, and the snow quickly turns to slush with all the traffic, making life rather miserable. The summer's are great, mild, and not too humid. I tell people nowadays that Boston's a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there again. I got tired of the crime, riding the subway every day and being bothered, even groped on more than one occassion. I grew up in a small town, and I guess I just never really got used to it.

I'm a Boston girl born n bred and schooled. Boston is ideal with the wealth of universities in city and in Cambridge, active artist and musician offerings and the ideal location when you want to get to the beaches of Cape Cod or ski the mountains of NH/VT or escape to the beauty of Western MA like Deerfield or Jacob's Pillow. Wish I could move back in a heartbeat!

I love my city. The only problem are the transplants who complain about everything and drive up the cost-of-living.

Make sure you can take a week off and go somewhere warm in the winter.

Depends on what you want out of life and if you enjoy cold weather.
